What is your opinion on the trend of unique name spellings?

Things like Jezzyka, Abbergale, Haidynn, Lillee. What do you think?

What is your opinion on the trend of unique name spellings?
it depends on the name, my daughter is called Aimee but we chose to spell it that way rather than the usual way of Amy. its not like we made it up like some people make up spellings which can look rediculous. being different is nice but the name has a lot to do with it. noone i have known spells their name aimee just amy so i see it as more unique but not like the names you have stated.
Reply:Think the Mommies and Daddies can't spell and are too darn lazy to look it up.
Reply:Some look better than others but overall I think it's pretty stupid...the orginal spellings all look fine and usually better so I don't see much point. A person can be orginal with their personality, you don't have to have a different name..
Reply:Its ridiculous, especially those examples. Everyone wants to be special but the truth is none of us are. The sooner people realize the better off this world would be.
Reply:Why would anyone stick their kids with a millstone like that to drag around the rest of their lives? As someone who has to spell out a perfectly ordinary name every time, I promise you that the novelty very soon wears off. Pretentious names say a lot about the parents - none of it good.
Reply:its been going on longer than yuo think... we called our daughter genene, as opposed to janine...

mind you, i wanted to call her xiombarg... back then it was unheard of, nowadays it wouldnt even raise an eyebrow...

oh, xiombarg was the queen of swords...
Reply:i almost always like the normal spelling of the name. i think it almost always looks better %26amp; is easier to pronounce %26amp; write. i think that sometimes-spelling names all trendy looks like people are trying too hard to be unique!
Reply:I think it's obnoxious.
Reply:GAH-hetto!
Reply:I hate, hate, hate it! Why can't people just leave names alone! It just looks as though people are illiterate.

Sorry but it's just a "thing" I have - we all have them and I am sure that I do stuff that probably really annoys others and I am a bit up my own bum when it comes to the beautiful English language!
Reply:I think a name should be spelt in a way you can pronounce it but teenagers seem to double their names like Lillie but their is no harm in it cause its not what is on the birth certificate so they aren't changing their name x
Reply:I like it. I think that people have too many opinions about others names. Who cares how you spell things. Damn, people need to relax.

BTW my daughters are named Bridgette and Valeri. No big change but it makes them a little different.
Reply:I don't really like it. It confuses a lot of people of the pronunciation and it makes it hard on the kid always having to correct wrong spellings of it.
Reply:i agree. it looks rather stupid. then when people look at the name, they have difficulty pronouncing it.
Reply:It depends on the name and how it looks.
Reply:Ridiculous. It's not a sign of individuality at all, it just looks stupid like an idiot trying to spell them correctly by how they sound.
Reply:I think it's awful, pretentious and stupid.

I can't imagine a businesswoman called Jezzyka or Juleigh.
Reply:It shows what idiots the parents are! Glad my parents didn't make me have to spell my name every single time I give it out!
Reply:I was just about to say that all of those names are hideous spellings of names that are fine the way they are. Then I remembered that my name is Linzi. Yes, it is always spelled wrong, I get Lyndsay, Lynsey, the list is endless. I've even had "Linsie". But I love my name the way it is. Okay, it's not as bad as Jezzyka or Abbergale (which is the worst of the lot) but it is a different spelling. My son is named Luka in a world full of "Luca"s. It's different but not totally out there.
Reply:I like Haidynn but none of the rest sorry.
Reply:It actually gives me the same impression that the alarming trend in rap music now does. How its "cool" to incorrectly spell and even pronounce some words. Like hey kids, if you don't learn to spell and speak proper English, then you can be cool like me!!!

They call it the emergence of a new culture but I think its a fad that will pass and embarrass people later in life when they look at their kids birth certificates and feel they owe their offspring an apology!
Reply:I think it makes the parent look dumb because they can't spell the name properly!
Reply:i dont like any of those names you mentioned. most of them are silly, people try to hard to be "different"
Reply:some are silly and there seems to be a competition on how wierd and wonderful they can get, I personally would stick to a traditionally spelt name unless I really liked one.
Reply:i don't really like it because it just makes it hard on everyone. I dont' really think anyone looks at it as neat, just "oops I spelled their name wrong" and then the child has to go through life learning how to spell the name and correcting everyone on the spelling.
Reply:Ridiculous but whatever.
Reply:Well, I'm probably going to get a few thumbs down, but in all honesty, I think it makes the parents look illiterate. Why not just go with the traditional spelling and teach your child good manners? A child with good manners is so rare today, that seeing one with the qualities would stand out far more than a child with a name that is misspelled.
Reply:I QUITE LIKE IT AS LONG AS ITS NOT TO MAD!

i like bailee and i have a friend whos name is rae-bailee i like the way they have done that!
Reply:Some people are going overboard with unique spellings. I like Jezzyka a lot! Names with z's are always cool! It looks like Jazzy and I just like that word for some reason. Congrats on your baby girl!
Reply:Your spellings are wayyy too much.

These are some unique spelled but not too over the top.
