Tips For Hamster Please and also a Unique name you like for my hamster?
Most hamsters, once they get old enough will quarrel with others, even females. It is best to buy one hamster, they are pretty much solitary and would prefer it that way. I named my panda bear hamster Pocky. I like short, cute/spunky 1 or 2 syllable names because they fit hamster's personalities really well. A good place to go for names is a baby names website, then search based of meanings. Like "cute one" or "darling girl", stuff like that.

BREEDING:


If you want to own more hamsters in your life, buy a male and female. (NOTE: They must be same breed.) Then, they will get babies. You can give some to friends and keep the ones you like or just keep all of them. Do not put hamsters in the same cage unless you want more. They can give birth to 9 or more.


FOOD:


You can give them veggies but not too much or else they might catch wet tail! My caught it and died! Pet Store food is probaly the best! Mine loved sunflower seeds! There are house for hamsters which are edible.





MORE:


Wet Tail Disease- its a common disease for hamsters. Don't stress out your hamster. That's another way it can catch it!





BEDDING- Buy absorbable bedding. You should clean out your cage at least every week.

When you go to select your hamster, make sure she is bright-eyed and alert and that none of the hamsters appear sick. Ask the salesperson to bring the hamster of your choice out for you to see, to be sure that she handles well. If she is aggressive, pass her up for a more even tempered hamster, it will make for a more pleasant first hamster experience.





In fact, male hamsters tend to be more even tempered than female hamsters, if that is more important to you than gender.





That's my hamster pro-tip. Careful selection can save a lot of heartache!





As for hamster names, I love naming them after food or objects with short(two-syllable) cute-like names. Popcorn, Muffin, Bobbin, Button. If you want to go for unique, avoid naming your hamster based on the color of her coat. It's way too easy to get a black and white hamster and name her oreo!

find some good care sheets over the web, and be prepared to spend individual time with each of them to tame them down and mae them happy healthy pets.

Reply:If you get three Syrian hamsters you will need three cages as Syrians are solitary creatures and will fight to the death if put them together.


If you want your hamsters to be together, get either Campbell dwarf hamsters, they like to live in pairs.


Winter White dwarfs, who also like to live in pairs.


Chinese hamsters, who again live to live in pairs


or Roborovski hamsters who can live in colonies.





If you do decide to get any of the other breeds please still get one more cage, (if getting more then two Roborovskis, you'll need the same number of cages as hamsters) because even these hamsters can sometimes fight, or if one of them becomes ill you will need to separate them.





If you get any of these smaller hamsters you will need to get a cage(s) without bars as they could get through the bar gaps.





Get yourself a book about hamsters so you can read all about them first, so you know there dietary requirements and different care needs.





I always wait until I have my hamster before choosing a name so the name 'fits' the hamster.
